Pecan Pie

Ingredients:
  • graham cracker crust: 1 package
  • granulated sugar: 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon, divided
  • unsalted butter, melted: 3 tablespoons
  • all-purpose flour: 2 teaspoons
  • large eggs: 4, room temperature
  • light corn syrup or golden syrup: 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons
  • bourbon vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • dark corn syrup or molasses (optional): 2 tablespoons, for a richer flavor and color
  • salted butter: 1/3 cup, melted
  • brown sugar: 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons for topping
  • pecan halves or nuts (chopped): 1 cup, optional and additional if desired as garnish after baking
Directions:

instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Press graham cracker crumbs into the bottom of a pie pan and up sides. Bake for about five minutes.

instruzences: In a medium bowl, mix together half cup sugar with melted butter

press onto base to make crust firmly set without baking it (this will be your pie shell).

instructions: Cool on wire rack.

instructions: In a large bowl with an electric mixer beat eggs and remaining sugar until light yellow. Add corn syrup (light or golden), vanilla extract, melted butter, salt, bourbon vinegar if desired for extra flavor depth.

instructions: Pour the egg mixture into pie shell and spread evenly. Sprinkle brown sugar over top along with additional chopped nuts or pecans as garnish (optional).

instructions: Bake for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees F until filling puffs up and is just set. Do not overbake.
