Ingredients:
  • Urad dal (split black lentils): 1 cup
  • Rice flour: 3 cups
  • Water: 2 and 1/4 cups, plus extra for grinding batter
  • Carom seeds (ajwain): a pinch
  • Salt: to taste
Directions:

Soak the urad dal in water for at least 6 hours, or overnight.

Drain and grind into a smooth paste with enough fresh water along with carom seeds (ajwain) until it forms a thick batter. Add salt to taste.
