Ingredients:
- All-purpose flour: 2 cups
- Warm water or milk: 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon (for dough) and additional for dipping beignets
- Sugar: 3 teassles, divided
- Dry yeast: 1/4 packet (about 2 and 1/4 teaspoons) or about 7 grams if using metric measurements
- Unsalted butter, melted plus more for frying: 3 tablespoons to combine with flour; additional as needed when frying
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (or small pinch)
Directions:
In a medium bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water or milk with 3 tablespoons of sugar. Let stand until bubbly and foamy on top
about five minutes.
Whisk together flour and remaining 1 teaspoon (or pinch) salt into mixture along with melted butter, then mix in yeast liquid.
