Ingredients:
  • Flour: 5 cups
  • Warm water: 1 cup
  • Active dry yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • Sugar: 2 tablespoons
  • Unsalted butter, softened at room temperature: 10 tablespoons (or more as desired)
  • Salt: 2 teaspoons
Directions:

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar into warm water (about 105-110°F/40.5-43.3°C). Let stand for about 5 minutes or until frothy.

Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl: flour, dissolved yeast and salt. Mix with hands to combine evenly.
