Classic Apple Crisp

Ingredients:
  • Pie Weights or Granulated Sugar: 1 cup
  • All-purpose Flour: 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons
  • Unsalted Butter, Cold and Diced: 1 stick (1/2 cup) minus the amount used for pie weights or granulated sugar
  • Ground Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh Apples, Peeled and Thinly Sliced (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp): 6-8 medium apples depending on size, peeled and thinly sliced about 5 cups total
  • Unsalted Butter: 1/2 cup (plus extra for topping)
Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin between two pieces of parchment paper or waxed paper into an even layer about 1/8-inch thick.

Place half on top, pressing down lightly at edges and leaving some exposed for steam release.
