Servings: 2
Ingredients:
  • Flour: 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Water: 3/4 cup water + 2 tablespoons for dough mixing and frying mixture
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon salt, plus extra to sprinkle over churros after cooking if desired
  • Unsalted Butter: 3 tablespoons for dough mixing and fry mixture + additional for coating batter before deep-frying
Directions:

To make the churro dough, mix together 1 cup all-purpose flour with water (start by using just a bit less than half of what's in your measuring cup and add more as needed) until it forms a thick but pliable batter.

Prepare an oil mixture for deep frying. Heat about 2 inches worth of vegetable or canola oil (or another high-smoke point cooking fat) to around 375 degrees Fahrenheit in a large, heavy pot over medium heat. Transfer the batter into this hot oil and carefully drop spoonfulsβ€”the churros should be about an inch apart. Cook until golden brown on all sides

flip them occasionally for even cooking.
